Irish Chef becomes the first qualified Green Manager worldwide
Odran Lucey, executive chef at the Rose Hotel in Tralee, Ireland, has become the first person in the world to successfully complete a brand-new qualification for Environmental Sustainability Management in Hospitality.
Fifty Shades Greener (FSG) and the Confederation of Tourism & Hospitality (CTH) joined forces in late 2021 to create the first Level 4 (Level 6 in Ireland) certificate in environmental sustainability management in hospitality. This is the first qualification of its kind to be regulated as an official qualification on the Ofqual framework of education.

Raquel Noboa moved to Ireland from her native Spain in 1998 and has been working in the Irish hospitality sector since then. As an independent consultant, Raquel specialised in Greening businesses by reducing their use of water and energy, and their production of waste. Raquel won the title of Irish Hospitality Institute (IHI) Environmental Manager of the Year in 2015. She also led Hotel Doolin to win the Platinum Award on Green Hospitality in 2014, twice winner of the Tourism & Entertainment Award 2015 & 2016 from the National Green Awards, IBEC Environmental Awards 2016 amongst others. In 2020 Raquel started working with Secondary Schools in Ireland through the Building a Greener Future programme, to give the young generations the knowledge and skills they require to calculate their home and school's carbon emissions, so we can help build a society that is carbon conscious in the future and assist the government's NetZero targets.
